National Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), observed each October, is a time to raise awareness about disability employment issues and celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities. Established by Congress in 1945, NDEAM promotes the importance of creating inclusive work environments that provide equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities to succeed. The month highlights the value of a diverse workforce and encourages businesses, organizations, and communities to embrace policies and practices that support the recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement of workers with disabilities. NDEAM serves as a reminder that people with disabilities bring unique skills, talents, and perspectives that contribute to innovation and success in the workplace. Through education, advocacy, and outreach, this month aims to break down barriers, challenge misconceptions, and foster a more inclusive society where everyone has access to meaningful employment opportunities.
