Program Requirements

The minor in electrical engineering requires a total of 20 credit hours. Your specific course of study must be approved in advance by an academic coordinator to ensure all prerequisites are met. All courses used for the minor must be completed with a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Core Curriculum

Students must complete the following foundational courses:

  • ECE 214: Design of Logic Circuits
  • ECE 260: Circuit Analysis
  • ECE 321: Electronics
  • ECE 325: Signals and Systems

Elective Concentrations

To fulfill the remaining credit requirements, students select two upper-division ECE courses at the 300 or 400 level. Please note that ECE 451 and ECE 452 do not count toward this minor. While not required, students may choose to focus their electives in one of the following specialized areas:

  • VLSI Design: ECE 349 and ECE 366
  • Digital Signal Processing: ECE 341 and ECE 414
  • Computer Engineering: ECE 324 and ECE 424
  • Power Systems: ECE 461 and ECE 462

Residency and Credit Policies

The university requires that at least 9 credit hours for any minor be at the 300 to 400 level. These credits must be taken in residence at WSU or through WSU-approved education abroad or exchange programs. At WSU Vancouver, all minor courses must be taken in residence, with the exception of ECE 214, ECE 260, ECE 321, and ECE 341.
