Nomination Guidelines
Please describe specific ways the nominee meets the award criteria: active participation with campus activities, excellent performance in the staff member’s own role, demonstrated leadership on behalf of WSU Vancouver and going the “extra mile” to advance WSU Vancouver. Other supporting documents (i.e. nominee’s resume, letters of support, etc.) may also be included but are not necessary. Please email any additional information to sharon.bennett@wsu.edu.
The Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence recognizes and salutes the dedication and commitment of a civil service or administrative professional staff member in advancing the mission of WSU Vancouver. Award criteria includes active participation with campus activities, excellent performance in the staff member’s own role, demonstrated leadership on behalf of WSU Vancouver and going the extra mile to advance WSU Vancouver. This award is presented annually, typically at the beginning of the academic year.
Solicitation for nominations will begin during spring semester. The specific timeline will be communicated via campus email and announced in a variety of forums.

Position 2: Staff position (3 years term)
Holly Davis, Assistant for the Associate Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (term ends: 9/2023)
Position 3: Staff position (3 years term)
Paris Nelson, Campus Director of TRiO Talent Search Programs (term ends: 9/2024)
Position 4: Staff position (3 years term)
Eric Scott, Director for Student Development (term ends: 9/2024)

Staff Excellence Award Committee members may not submit a nomination or be considered for the Staff Excellence Award during their tenure of service. Members will serve on a rotating basis in order to serve the entire campus. The rotating positions are for three award terms. The chancellor will invite new committee members based on discussion and recommendations from Cabinet.
Nominations are accepted via online submission or hard-copy. The committee solicits nominations via FYI Vancouver, Cabinet, Campus Council, and other forums. The supervisor of each nominee will be consulted for input. Eligible nominees are notified, though nominator letters remain confidential unless shared by the nominator. The committee independently ranks nominees, meets to discuss, and makes a recommendation to the Chancellor, who selects the winner. The award is presented at the start of the academic year.
