Ensuring Safe and Accessible Campus Access
WSU Vancouver prioritizes a pedestrian-first environment to maintain the safety and integrity of our campus walkways. To facilitate necessary maintenance and vendor activities, Parking Services issues Mall Service Permits for authorized vehicle access to restricted areas. These permits allow for essential service delivery while ensuring that the campus remains a secure space for students, faculty, and visitors. By obtaining a permit, drivers commit to upholding University standards and state regulations designed to protect our community and infrastructure.
All mall areas at WSU Vancouver are considered closed and restricted zones. Access is granted exclusively to authorized vehicles for specific, approved purposes. Whether you are a campus department or an outside vendor, adhering to these guidelines ensures a seamless service experience without compromising the accessibility of our high-traffic pedestrian zones.
Terms of Use and Safety Requirements
Pedestrian Mall Service Permits are issued for approved access only and may be modified, nullified, or revoked at any time if university operations, public safety, or emergency response needs take precedence. Permit holders must comply with all directives from Public Safety and Facilities Services personnel.
Parking Durations and Rates
- Standard Access: Permits are typically valid for a maximum of 30 minutes in pedestrian mall or building access areas.
- Extended Use: If access is required for longer than 30 minutes, the permit is subject to the current daily parking rate unless a valid WSU Vancouver parking permit is already displayed.
- Roadway Loading: When loading or unloading in a roadway, vehicles must use hazard warning lights. Parking in a roadway or non-mall curb is limited to 30 minutes unless pre-approved by Public Safety.
Driving Regulations
- Pedestrian Priority: The mall is a high-foot-traffic area. Drivers must yield the right of way to all pedestrians without exception.
- Speed Limits: Vehicles must proceed at a walking pace, not to exceed 5 MPH.
- Escort Requirement: All service vehicles must be escorted on foot by the event or service requester from the point of entry to the final destination.
- Authorized Vehicles: Only vehicles essential for the approved service are permitted. Oversized vehicles that may damage walkways or landscaping are prohibited.
Liability and Compliance
By accepting a WSU Vancouver Mall Permit, the holder assumes full responsibility for any damage to campus property or injuries resulting from vehicle access. Failure to comply with these terms may result in the immediate termination of access privileges and potential referral to campus administration.
