Services and Activities Fees Budget Requests

Funding Student Programs and Initiatives

The Services and Activities Fees budget request process at WSU Vancouver supports the growth and success of non-academic student programs. These funds empower student organizations and campus units to enhance the university experience through diverse events, leadership opportunities, and essential student services. By participating in this annual cycle, student leaders and departments can secure the resources necessary to foster a vibrant campus community.

Applying for funding involves a transparent review process managed by the S&A Fees Committee. All proposals should clearly demonstrate how the requested funds will benefit the student body and align with campus goals for engagement and inclusion. Whether you are requesting support for a small one-time event or a large annual budget, WSU Vancouver provides the tools and guidance needed to navigate the submission and hearing process effectively.

Appeal budget hearings

The primary review of budgets takes place based on the materials provided in the memo and overall submissions. After initial allocation notices are delivered, appeal hearings are scheduled. The S&A Fees Committee invites the campus community to attend upcoming budget hearing sessions.

Submit a budget request

To submit a budget request, email a completed Budget Request Form and Budget Request Memo to Sara Rauch at sara.rauch@wsu.edu by the proposal deadline.

Budget Request Form

The Budget Request Form is used for both small, one-time funding requests and large, annual organizational budgets. Only complete the sections of the form relevant to your organization and request. Not every section applies to all groups. For example, an event funding request might not include salary or travel expenditures.

Budget Request Memo

Your Budget Request Memo must include a brief description of the purpose of the request, including any significant changes from past submissions. The primary goal of the memo is to answer this question: How does this request support non-academic student activities and programs?

In addition to the primary question, please address the following:

  • Identify the broad goals for this unit or request.
  • Detail how you measured the success and impact of previously funded requests, or how you plan to measure a new request.
  • If the program has access to other funding sources, explain why those sources cannot cover the expenses included in this request.
  • If the unit received an allocation previously and expects to be under or over budget, provide an explanation and a plan to avoid budget variance in the future.
