About the Major

The hospitality industry is booming, with hundreds of thousands of lodging properties, restaurants, and managed service venues worldwide. The Carson College of Business prepares students to qualify for management positions across diverse hospitality segments.

Industry Work Experience Requirements

To graduate, all students majoring in Hospitality Business Management must complete 1,000 hours of documented work experience in the hospitality industry. Work hours must meet the following criteria:

  • Hours must be accumulated after high school graduation.
  • All hours must be documented as paid employment.
  • The employer’s primary source of revenue must derive from hospitality services.
  • The student’s performance evaluation must reflect an average of 80 percent or higher across the standard rating criteria.
