Support for Students with Learning Disabilities

Learning disabilities are neurologically based challenges that can impact how a student processes information and demonstrates academic skills. At WSU Vancouver, we recognize that these difficulties which may affect reading, writing, spelling, listening, speaking, or mathematics, do not reflect a student’s overall intellectual potential. Our goal is to ensure every student has the tools and support necessary to succeed in a rigorous higher education environment.

Student Accommodations and Disability Resources works closely with individuals to identify and implement effective strategies. By understanding the specific impact of a learning disability, WSU Vancouver provides tailored resources that bridge the gap between a student’s potential and the barriers they may face in the classroom. We are committed to fostering an inclusive campus where all learners can thrive.

Documentation Requirements

To receive accommodations, please have a qualified healthcare provider submit documentation to Student Accommodations and Disability Resources. You may also use the Provider Verification Form linked below.

  • A DSM-V or ICD diagnosis of a learning disability or clinically significant results from psycho-educational test scores.
  • Psycho-educational testing performed at the adult level. Testing performed at the child level will be considered if it was completed recently.
  • A detailed description of the current functional impact and limitations of the disability, focusing specifically on barriers within the educational environment.
