Alternative print services

Accessible Course Materials and Alternative Formats

WSU Vancouver is committed to ensuring every student has equal access to the educational materials required for academic success. Through the Access Center, students with documented disabilities can request alternative print services to receive textbooks and course documents in formats that best suit their learning needs. Whether you require e-text, audio files, or enlarged print, our team works to bridge the gap between standard publishing and personal accessibility.

Navigating the transition to digital or specialized formats is a collaborative process. By utilizing the MyAccess portal, students at WSU Vancouver can manage their requests, upload necessary documentation, and track the status of their materials. We encourage students to engage with these resources early to ensure all required readings, syllabi, and supplementary videos are converted and ready for the start of their studies.

Alternative Print Request Process

Step 1: Apply for Accommodations

This step is for first-time users only. Complete your initial application through the Access Center to establish your eligibility for services.

Step 2: Log into MyAccess and Sign E-Forms

Review all forms carefully in the MyAccess portal. Policies and procedures are updated regularly to better serve the student body.

Step 3: Request Accommodations

Navigate to your course list and select the E-Text checkbox for each specific class where you require alternative formatting.

Step 4: Select Your Alternative Print Preference

  • Navigate to Alternative Formats under the My Accommodations section.
  • Choose your preferred format (such as PDF, Word, or MP3) from the drop-down menu.

Step 5: Submit Receipts

To comply with copyright regulations, proof of purchase is required for converted textbooks.

  • Upload a scan or clear photo of your textbook receipt.
  • In the Alternative Formats section, use the Browse button under Upload Book Receipts.
  • Check the boxes for all applicable courses covered by the receipt.

Step 6: Submit Syllabi

Providing your syllabus helps staff prioritize reading assignments.

  • Save your syllabus as a document.
  • Under Course Syllabus in the navigation menu, select the corresponding class.
  • Enter the course name, upload the file, and select Upload Syllabus.

Request Processing Timeline

Requests are prioritized based on the date they are received. Conversion staff focus first on materials listed as Required by instructors, including textbooks, articles, and video transcriptions.

Note: Students must notify an Accommodations Specialist directly regarding any specific video transcription or article conversion needs. Supplementary texts are processed as soon as priority materials are completed.

Important Milestones

  • Submit Requests Early: Submit your request immediately after course registration.
  • Priority Deadlines: Submit requests by early June for autumn terms and early December for spring terms to ensure materials are ready for the first day of class. Requests submitted after these dates are processed as quickly as possible, but conversion by the start of the term is not guaranteed.
  • Procurement: Acquiring files from publishers typically takes four to six weeks.
  • Conversion: Once files are acquired, the Access Center aims to complete conversion within four weeks.
  • Final Verification: Materials are released once the student has submitted their Alternative Print Agreement, receipts, and syllabi.
