Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

Shape the Future Through Intersectional Inquiry

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at WSU Vancouver invites students to examine how concepts of gender and sexuality influence daily lives, societal institutions, and global communities. In an era of rapid social change, this interdisciplinary program places identity and equity at the center of research and teaching. Students use an intersectional lens to analyze how gendered social roles affect personal relationships, artistic expression, institutional structures, and international economics. By evaluating the historical and cultural factors that shape human experience, the program prepares analytical thinkers ready to navigate and improve a diverse world.

Enrolling in the program empowers students to question traditional political and ideological models by centering marginalized perspectives. Courses emphasize student-centered, active learning that transforms theoretical knowledge into practical advocacy. As a student in this program, you will develop essential skills in critical thinking, professional writing, research, public presentation, and leadership.
