The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at WSU Vancouver prepares nurse leaders to deliver the highest quality health care through evidence-based practice. As a terminal degree focused on clinical excellence, the DNP equips students to implement scientific research into practical health care delivery. This program is designed for nurses seeking to become advanced practice leaders who can improve outcomes for families, communities, and diverse populations.
At WSU Vancouver, students choose from specialized tracks including Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a Post-Master’s General option. The curriculum aligns with recommendations from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, ensuring graduates are ready for independent practice. In states such as Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, DNP-prepared practitioners possess the authority to diagnose illness, manage treatments, and prescribe medications autonomously.
Accreditation
The baccalaureate degree in nursing, master’s degree in nursing, and doctor of nursing practice programs at Washington State University College of Nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The DNP program offers three distinct pathways to meet your professional goals.
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Prepares you for a career in primary care with the skills to operate an independent practice and manage patient health across the lifespan.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Focuses on providing a full scope of psychiatric therapies, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders.
Post-Master’s General (PMG)
Designed for nurses who already hold a master’s degree and wish to advance their expertise in leadership, research, and evidence-based practice.
