Orientation for Post-Bachelor, Graduate, Non-Degree, RN to BSN, and International Students

Specialized Student Orientation and Resources

Start your journey at WSU Vancouver with the tools and information necessary for a successful transition. Whether you are an international student, a returning Cougar, or a post-baccalaureate professional, we provide tailored guidance to help you navigate campus life. From mandatory tutorials to optional pre-orientation programs, these resources ensure every student feels prepared and supported.

WSU Vancouver offers specialized pathways for diverse academic backgrounds. While traditional orientation is required for some, others may benefit from department-specific programs or cultural transition initiatives. Explore our comprehensive check-in processes and student support services to establish your foundation for academic excellence.

Orientation Attendance

New Coug Orientation is required for first-year and transfer undergraduate students, including international undergraduates.

Orientation is optional for:

  • Graduate students
  • Post-baccalaureate students
  • Non-degree-seeking students
  • RN to BSN students
  • Former WSU students returning after time away

These students are welcome to attend orientation but are not required. Some graduate school departments offer specialized online orientation programs. Contact your academic advisor to learn more about specific departmental requirements.

International Student Tutorial

1. Online Canvas Course

Complete this course before arrival. It includes videos and quizzes to help you prepare for life in the United States and at WSU Vancouver.

2. Live Tutorial via Zoom

Check your WSU email for an invitation to your assigned session. This tutorial covers housing, academic expectations, and campus engagement. If you do not receive an invitation.

Undergraduate International Students

In addition to the tutorials, undergraduate international students must attend New Coug Orientation. For questions regarding immigration matters, contact International Student and Scholar Services at 1-509-335-4508.

International Student Check-In

All new international students must complete the online check-in process. Upload the following documents to myPassport within seven days of your arrival on campus:

  • I-20 or DS-2019
  • Biographical passport page
  • F-1 or J-1 visa (or I-797 notice for change of status)
  • Port of entry stamp (if applicable)
  • I-94 document
Note: Failure to complete the check-in process may result in the cancellation of your SEVIS record.

Designed for first-generation students, the T.H.R.I.V.E. Program provides support through campus activities and a leadership retreat.

La Bienvenida – Orientation in Spanish

Spanish-speaking families are invited to attend La Bienvenida. This orientation is conducted entirely in Spanish and covers campus services and support systems.
