Credential Evaluation
If your college or university education was completed outside of the United States at an institution without U.S. regional accreditation, you must have your transcripts evaluated. This process converts your academic records to the U.S. grading system and provides a cumulative unweighted grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
Provide official academic transcripts
Submit complete, official academic transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary schools you have attended to Washington State University. These documents must detail all courses taken, grades received, and any degrees or certificates earned.
WSU International Admissions will complete this evaluation once your official transcripts are received.
Third-party credential evaluation service
As an alternative to the internal review, you may use an approved third-party service to evaluate your credentials. Common providers include World Education Services (WES) and Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
A list of all acceptable credential evaluation companies is available on the NACES website. WSU only accepts evaluations performed by NACES-approved companies.
Request the correct evaluation
To ensure your application is processed efficiently, please request the specific evaluation type required for your student status:
- First-year students: If you have only attended secondary school, request an evaluation that includes a cumulative unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Transfer students: If you have completed college or university coursework, request a detailed course-by-course transcript evaluation. Applicants with less than one year of post-secondary work must also have their secondary school transcripts evaluated.
