Community College Transfer Guidelines
If you are transferring from a community college, consider these key factors regarding your credits and standing.
Flexible Entry Points
You do not need to earn an associate degree to transfer to WSU Vancouver. Students are encouraged to contact an admissions counselor at any time to review transferable coursework and plan a timely transition.
Washington State Students
- Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA): Students who earn an approved DTA associate degree from a Washington community college generally receive junior standing. This agreement ensures all lower-division University Common Requirements (UCORE) are satisfied.
- Associate of Science Transfer (AST): Students who earn an AST degree receive junior standing with partial completion of lower-division UCORE requirements.
Oregon and Out-of-State Students
- Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT): The AAOT degree, along with specific approved degrees from Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Idaho, guarantees the completion of lower-division UCORE requirements. Note that this does not automatically guarantee junior standing or 60 semester credits.
- Course-by-Course Evaluation: If you hold a degree from a community college in another state, or a degree not covered by specific transfer agreements, WSU Vancouver grants credit based on a course-by-course evaluation.
