Professional Advantages

Pursuing a BSN degree significantly expands employment opportunities. Industry reports indicate that a vast majority of hospitals now require or strongly prefer hiring nurses with a bachelor’s degree. This preference is often driven by Magnet status compliance, a credential that many local healthcare facilities actively pursue. By enrolling in this program, you position yourself as a priority applicant for competitive roles in the nursing field.

Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) Overview

The Concurrent Enrollment Program offers a streamlined pathway for nursing students to work toward their Bachelor of Science in Nursing while completing their associate degree. Below are the answers to the most common questions regarding eligibility, scheduling, and program requirements.

WSU Vancouver encourages all students to talk with their ADN advisor before deciding whether to pursue CEP entry. It is of critical importance that you are successful in the Community College nursing program. This must be your first priority as you will be unable to continue in the CEP if you are unable to maintain satisfactory academic progress at the Community College. It is important to remember that you have the option of enrolling in the RN-BSN program after graduation as well. The CEP will not be the best fit for all students.

All students accepted into a participating Community College nursing program will be given the option to apply for the CEP with WSU Vancouver. Students must maintain satisfactory academic status in the Community College nursing program to continue enrollment in the CEP. Students must also pass all BSN courses at WSU Vancouver with a C (73%) or higher to continue in the CEP.

Students will take selected RN-BSN courses during the summers while they are in the nursing program. This will allow students enrolled in the CEP to focus on their Community College nursing coursework during fall, winter and spring quarters and BSN coursework during the summers. Students will take the remaining RN-BSN courses after graduation from the Concurrent Enrollment Program.

This depends on when you start the Concurrent Enrollment Nursing Program (fall, winter or spring start) as that determines the number of summers while in the program. Students may also opt to take one or two RN-BSN courses each summer. The time to degree completion will vary based on these individual factors.

There is only one attendance date each semester, and the remaining course content is in asynchronous format using Canvas.
