Student Retention and Graduation

Understanding the factors that predict student success is vital to the growth of WSU Vancouver. While students transferring with associate degrees consistently graduate at high rates, the university tracks various predictors to identify those who may require additional support.

Key groups identified for proactive outreach and support include:

  • Students with a history of lower academic success based on previous grade point averages
  • Students entering the university as freshmen
  • Transfer students with fewer than 60 credits
  • Part-time students
  • Students from underrepresented minority groups
  • Male students beginning as freshmen
  • Students with a high amount of unmet financial need

By analyzing these outcomes, WSU Vancouver anticipates challenges and develops resources to improve persistence across the entire student body.
